Alliott Cole

Alliott joined Octopus Ventures in 2008 and became CEO in 2017. Over this time the team has backed more than 120 entrepreneurs and has grown to become one of Europe’s largest and most active venture investors with over £1.3 billion under management. Under his leadership, the investment team has evolved to specialise in health, money, deep tech and consumer and created a market leading portfolio talent function across Europe and the US.

In 2021, Alliott was joined by Co-CEO Emma Davies, allowing him to focus on investments and portfolio. Over the years he has worked closely with many of the Octopus portfolio, notably the food e-commerce business Graze (acquired by Unilever), the ecommerce platform Rangespan (acquired by Google), the machine learning technology startup Magic Pony (acquired by Twitter), the pet food company (acquired by Nestle), and the property portal website Zoopla (that listed on LSE and was later acquired by SilverLake). Alliott currently serves as the Octopus board representative at Secret Escapes, Cazoo and Big Health.

Before arriving at Octopus, Alliott worked as a lawyer at Ashurst, with stints at NM Rothschild and IBM in London. Alliott holds a Masters in Classics from Oxford University and a postgraduate diploma in Law from BPP University, London.
