Simon King (PhD)
Simon joined Octopus Ventures in 2012 and looks after our origination strategy.
With a background as a scientist, he’s passionate about new tech and its positive impact on all our lives.
He pursues that passion by focusing on deep tech investments, including looking at companies building novel AI and machine learning tech, advanced materials, semiconductors and quantum computing.
His academic background is in physics, chemistry and materials, culminating in a PhD in organic electronics from Imperial College London.
Outside work, Simon’s the father of three boys (and being one of three boys, knows how bad things are going to get). He also plays piano and guitar, loves the outdoors and is learning Mandarin.
