Ben Newsome
Ben joined the Octopus Ventures People + Talent team in 2022, excited to put a decade’s experience in scaling teams to work, coaching the B2B portfolio in all its recruitment needs.
Ben built his expertise across some of Europe’s leading tech companies, helping them through huge growth. Most recently, he led Data and Engineering Leadership recruiting at Monzo Bank, where he played a key role in more than doubling those teams in 18 months.
Prior to Monzo, Ben worked at Improbable, the Metaverse technology unicorn, where he played a big part in growing them from 150 to 800+ people across growth and M&A. He also co-founded a technology startup, so he arrives at Octopus Ventures loaded with the empathy and experience needed to support the pioneers we back.
Outside work, Ben continues to dive deeper into his passion of communication and psychology. And, having started his career as a professional golfer, it’s only natural that he likes to stay sharp with the sticks, but he knows his handicap is only going one way – up!
