Ruth Jakobsen

Ruth Jakobsen is a Principal in the Portfolio team at Octopus Ventures, where she works closely with founders and leadership teams to scale ambitious technology businesses and build the foundations for long-term success. Since joining in January 2026, she has focused on supporting companies as they navigate growth, from strengthening operating models to preparing for future fundraising and exit.

Ruth brings over 20 years of experience across finance, operations and transformation in high-growth SaaS, fintech and technology businesses. She partners with founders on some of the most critical challenges of scaling, including building high-performing teams, improving capital efficiency, strengthening governance, and unlocking opportunities across M&A and fundraising. She is particularly passionate about helping companies harness data, automation and AI to make better decisions and scale more effectively.

Before joining Octopus Ventures, Ruth held CFO and senior leadership roles at companies including Flagstone, Acin and ESL FACEIT Group. Across her career, she has built functions from the ground up, led multiple fundraising rounds, acquisitions and exits, and worked closely with founders from early growth through to late-stage maturity.


Ruth holds an MBA from London Business School, is a Chartered Accountant (ICAS), and has a CISI Certificate in Corporate Finance. She serves on the boards of Token and Ometria and is actively involved in mentoring. She speaks English, Lithuanian and Russian.


Outside of work, Ruth enjoys staying active through skiing, sailing and yoga, and spends much of her time keeping up with her two daughters.
