Maria Thoomkuzhiyil
Maria Thoomkuzhiyil is a Portfolio Associate at Octopus Ventures. She joined in March 2026 and works closely with founders across the portfolio, supporting follow-on investment decisions and helping companies prepare for strong exit outcomes.
Maria focuses on making clear, conviction-led decisions about where to continue backing businesses, and on helping teams get exit-ready by identifying the most credible routes to liquidity and what needs to happen to get there.
She takes a sector-agnostic approach, working across healthtech, fintech, consumer, B2B SaaS, deeptech and biotech.
Before joining Octopus Ventures, Maria was an Investment Banking Associate at Jefferies, where she worked on a number of high-profile buy-side and sell-side transactions, gaining end-to-end experience across deal processes.
She holds a BSc in Natural Sciences (Biology and Chemistry) from the University of Bath, alongside a CISI Certification in Corporate Finance and a CFA Level 4 Certificate in Investment Management.
Outside of work, Maria is a keen sports enthusiast and a member of the Octopus netball team. She also enjoys tennis, padel and golf, as well as cooking, hosting dinner parties and travelling.
