Owen Metters (PhD)
Owen joined Octopus Ventures in 2022 from Williams Advanced Engineering, where he led deep tech investments from the Foresight Williams Technology Funds.
Working in technology transfer at the University of Oxford, he helped academics with the challenge of commercialising their world-class research, across sectors ranging from green chemistry to laser physics.
With a strong academic foundation in science, built through a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Bristol, Owen brings extensive experience in forming, supporting and backing deep tech companies to his role.
The most exciting part of his day is spent discussing the disruptive new technologies that will change the way we live, with the pioneering founders who have the vision to execute. Where you’ll find him outside the office depends on the season: in the summer, he’s most likely to be on the links or the cricket pitch – and in the winter he’s biding his time, counting down the days to the start of the cricket season.
