Bryony joined Octopus Ventures in 2023 to co-lead the secondaries strategy, with over a decade’s experience in investments and corporate finance under her belt. She arrived with Octopus Ventures from OMERS, the Canadian pension fund, where she spent eight years in the private equity and venture capital direct investment teams.

Ahead of joining OMERS, Bryony worked at Canaccord Genuity – formerly Hawkpoint – where she sat in the investment banking team. But finance wasn’t always a sure thing. With a both a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and a Bachelor of Business (Finance) from the University of Technology in Sydney, Bryony almost took a different path. She spent the earliest years of her career as a medical device engineer, designing devices for the treatment of sleep apnoea.

The engineering might have tailed off, but Bryony’s passion for new ventures is very much intact: she recently spent two years in strategy and operations roles within start-ups.

Outside the office Bryony is a passionate foodie, regular gym goer, and intrepid traveller.
